Great article on induced pluripotent stem cells. A lot of people I talk to seem to believe they’re just an embryonic stem cell replacement, but really they are so much more. Being able to create a set of lines where you can see the progression of ALS or alzheimers, that’s the exciting stuff that wasn’t really discussed (or relevant) with embryonic stem cells where you don’t know whether the embryo would have these diseases if alive.
