Google’s market share in sports is 0%, Google’s market share in news is miniscule, Google’s market share in email is 5%, Google’s market share in desktop operating systems is 0%, etc.  Yahoo! has been criticized for it’s move to being a media company from a tech company under Semel, but many people don’t seem to notice that they actually did pretty damn well in doing that, with the number 1 sports site ahead of ESPN and SI, number 1 news ahead of CNN and the NYT, etc.  It might be hard to believe, but getting people to move from those companies when transitioning from offline to online isn’t easy.
